I'm after some new 700 x 38 - 40mm tyres.
The bike is used for approx 90% general fitness (a small amount on bridlepaths) and 10% touring*, it may get pressed into service as a commuter soon.
It is equipped at present with 25mm Maxxis detonator's, not enough volume. It has been used with 32mm Schwalbe Marathons, tooooo heavy. It has been tried with 37mm Continental Contacts, okay.

I'm considering Kenda Small Block 8's but have you any other/better suggestions?

*Sorry should have said light touring/bikepacking.

Schwalbe Marathon Supreme tyres weigh just 495g (700x40) opposed to M.Plus 940g (700x38) and are supposed to be 80% the resistant of the M.Plus's.

Just a thought

I've been using Bontrager select Ks in 700x35 and they have been very good; strong and puncture resistant considering their weight (about 400g). Not enough tread for my liking tho'; not for all season all condition use, anyway. I'm not sure they would be strong enough for heavily loaded touring, either. These tyres are NLA now but you may find NOS.

I mention these because the volume seems like plenty to me, even though they come up to closer to 32mm on my narrow rims.
