has anyone had problems using the CTC Poly Bag to carry their cycles on an aircraft.Easyjet recently insisted on me using a bike box instead and Iwas not allowed on the morning flight from Stansted to Bilbao.I re-booked onto the evening flight costing another £35 and made my own bike box which was accepted but missed that flight due to delays going through security. I gave up and cancelled my trip.Easyjet clearly state that "Bicycles be packed in a bike box or BAG".If this has happened to anyone out there, did you receive a refund and how did you go about it.

I have had no problems with easyJet when not using a box and have always departed as planned. I do note that reports have been posted regarding a lack of consistency regards interpretation of the rules (eg stoves). I always carry a printed copy of the policy for baggage and sports equipment as printed from the carriers website, which has a convenient date attached when printed. I know it’s too late now, but might be a worthwhile thing to do in future.

Only a thought but if you have the piece of paper which allows a bag you might be able to make a claim in the small claims court for breach of contract (or something like that) plus compensation for loss of holiday etc. Usually they pay up before it goes to court. A letter to The Guardian money page might work. After all, you did lose your holiday.

There used to be a photo on Easyjet's web page of a bike packed in a CTC poly bag.
From CTC "easyJet - a cyclist-friendly website ............There have however been ground handling problems - refusing bikes packed as specified - at a couple of their UK airports. CTC has had quick responses from easyJet to resolve problems like this. "
