What other 1/2 man tents have you used?

I've borrowed a terra nova laser which was excellent but not worth the extra money over the zephyros. Very, very light though.

I've owned a Gelert Solo which is a very small, coffin like 1 man which is ideal for keeping a low profile when wildcamping but can get a bit light.

The wife and I borrowed our neighbours vango banshee, 2 man, recently. It is an excellent tent for the money. Probably one of best out there I think. You need to know each other intimately if using it as a 2 man but for 1 person it offers great space vs pack size and weight. Would buy one instantly if I didn't already have the zephyros.

No wonder you think the Zephyros is spacious if this is what you're comparing it to. I had to stifle a laugh when I seen a fella trying to get into one on the Westray campsite.

I'm 6 foot and don't fit into a Zephyros 1.

I'm only 5 9 so it's a good fit for me although not good for the taller man or woman

The gelert was my first "touring" tent

It was absolutely shocking and I never got a wink of sleep in it but my first few camping trips were still bags of fun

Just bought a lightwave from go-outdoor G30 Trek, prefer the Geodesic to Tunnel £207 with all the discounts they are selling at £230 then 10% of for the month of Sept takes it down to £207.Big enough for 2 people
weights 2.8kgs.I fitted a dd Hammock tarp to the front 3mx3m this accomodates the bikes nicely.you need a pole we picked up a folding mop pole but would recommend going for the MSR folding pole, roughly comes down to the same size as the tent poles. The tent fits into a 15ltr compression sack and comes down to the size of a small football, the poles and pegs in the panniers. On the back rack the tent compressed plus 2 compressed down sleeping bags also the size of small footballs fitted into a roll down waterproof bag.Leaves 2 panniers for everything else. This way the wife does not have to carry anything,we have looked for everything we can compress small from mats to clothes, even the cooker is a small jetboil Zip and a small titanium pot and pan from alpkit.

hope this helps

I'm puzzled, why you have to carry a tarp to accomodate the bikes?

The tarp weights about 700grams but gives an additional porch area of about 8ftx6ft for sitting in,just creates a bigger living and cooking area. The bikes are taken in at night to keep the morning dew off them
