A normal kindle is very different to reading a PC screen. Whilst they aren't for everyone and not as nice as reading ink on paper, they are not far off. They are great for taking on holiday and touring. When my laptop broke and I was revising, it was a lifesaver. Could view notes as a PDF on the device. Plus the battery lasts ages.

Next time you're in a big Tesco or suchlike, have a play with one. You might be turned

Thanks Alex but I've my Luddite reputation to think of.

Ah well, worth a try.

Some books are much cheaper on Kindle - Ellie B's book - Mud, Sweat and Gears is £8.99 in Waterstone's and £1.50 on Kindle.

I still read paperbacks but I'm starting to use the Kindle more and more. Agreed Kindle's are great for holidays and touring as you can take as many books as you like with you, and download more whilst away and you've only ever got the Kindle which is the size and weight of a thin hardback.

Mud, Sweat and Gears is a really enjoyable read. I picked it up in the library on impulse just to give it a try and found that I whizzed through it in a weekend. I really identified with Ellie although her beer consumption was a bit gut boggling.
