" Successful touring depends on the mindset, not the frameset. "
Totaly agree but remember steel is forever , carbon is only until it de-laminates .... which like the sun coming up in the morning is inevitable ...

OK brightlights - here's the deal: we say that it is possible and then you tell us what you had in mind.

Hey everyone - many thanks for your comments and points of view - one of the reasons for this set up was to be able to take more 'stuff' myself so that my wife can travel lighter (brownie points forever). Already having a carbon frame bike saves on investing in a touring bike! Having just completed Paris to Istanbul we're planning ahead for our next tour! We left our old touring bikes in Istanbul! Plenty of ideas from your different perspectives have really helped!

Hi Brightlights
If you would like to try out an Extrawheel with your bike , I have a demo trailer available.
Either visit my shop in Tadcaster with your bike and you can fit the trailer and take it for spin or
we could organise delivery - obviously you would have to cover the shipping costs
regards
Dave

Tyre clearance seems to be a challenge on all carbon frames I have seen, primarily they seem aimed at the racers of this world!

So basically adding a load bearing steel frame to a lightweight carbon bike....
