Motor Oil/Maintenance Items Life

I'm clearing out my Gran's garage soon as she's moving. There is a lot of stuff in there which my Grandfather had for his car oil, brake fluid and the like before he died many years ago. He hadn't driven since about the year 2000. How long does this type of thing last for? Should I get rid of it all or will anything have some kind of life to it.

Also, I assume this will have to go to a tip which chemical waste disposal. It says used engine oil but doesn't specify anything about other substances:

Oil should be fine to use but I'm not sure about brake fluid.

Don't use the brake fluid if the container has been opened.
Oil I'm not sure about as I seem to remember reading that it can go off. Possibly something to do with the additives in it. :?:
If it can be used it would still need to match the specification for your car engine.

As this lot will only be valued at a few pounds in comparison against the value of an engine or some safety problem I would take it to the re-cycle/disposal plant.

Thanks for the replies, I wouldn't have used it myself as I don't do much to my car and already have oil ect for it. Just wondering if I should keep it or scrap the lot.
