But even cyclists don't like cyclists I have found.

Which posters were anti-cycling? Many commented that the video did not show the problem you describe, due to poor light and lots of shiny-black water. AFAIR no-one doubted what you said, simply saying that there was little to proceed with (which you appear to have decided yourself). What sort of "pro-cycling" reaction were you expecting / looking for?

Spend money to save infrastructure? That's as radical in idea as designing and building roads with drains! Shame on you for suggesting it in these strapped economic times (it would take money that is better spent in bonuses for senior management, for saving such a lot of money by not spending it to preserve infrastructure).

Well one can live in hope, glass half full and all that!

What has that got to do with bad driving?
That's a normal blame the cyclist response, or from someone who dislikes flashing lights.

I had a flashing light on my helmet and a constant light on my bars.

It's not meant as a blame the cyclist response at all or anti-flashing lights. I'm just not agreeing with you 100%.

I've seen it recommend in the Highway code that cyclist don't use flashing lights on unlit roads, just going on the video, your flashing head mounted non-cycling light was pointing and throwing a beam at the passing vehicles mirrors too.
As you've posted a video that looks like the driver didn't see or care about water ahead...is there a connection?
Is there anything you could have done better?Do you really want to be on the road possibly effecting other road users eyesight? Be that your fellow cyclist or the person driving a couple of tonnes of metal around you?

Just going on personal experience, it is harder to see the track/road ahead when flashing lights are used in unlit rural situations or badly aimed lights, which must be harder not to do with off-road use light on your head. Maybe other people on the road find it uncomfortable or worse too? It's different in street lit areas as your eyes have good constant light source to focus on.

The boris bikes and ree-lights are meant for on road use aren't they? They are fixed to the bike.

It might not be that you dazzled the driver in this case, they might just be inconsiderate, why give them more excuses, why even risk it?

? Dazzle the driver when they are behind me?

Every excuse to blame the cyclist even when it's not their fault. Must be cyclist not the driver.......

And I will point out again that I had a light on my bars that was set at constant. The light on my helmet is on flash so it says 'look I'm a cyclist'
