Uni Project - Bike fitting app

As a final year Graphic Design project we are creating a bike fitting app for smart phones and hand held devices.

This application will guide a cyclist through the process of testing and response analysis in order to equip them with the best understanding of their own body in relation to their bicycle. It will equip a cyclist with the knowledge to accurately self select an optimum fit and setup. It will be graphically represented throughout to help easily convey some rather technical ideas.

We are in the user response section of the project; i.e. does anyone actually want a bike fit app?
So please help us by filling out a short questionnaire about cycling and bike fitting in your experience.
We would be happy to share the results, as I am sure they would be of interest to the forum.

It will take you 5 mins to answer ten questions by following the surveymonkey link below.

Please follow the link below. One click should take you straight to the survey:

Once you have completed the survey please leave all comment and feedback in this thread.

Kind Regards,
Tony

Doesn't have "no" available for a couple of questions, or a place describe 'mother's

Also doesn't really do much in terms of fitting to a 'bent

What the phone app will need is an input of Heart Rate and an input from a Turbo with Watts output. It will also need an input from video cameras positioned to the side and fore of the turbo.
After an initial session, the phone app will make calculations to correctly position the cleats on the riders shoes, and show these diagramatically for the cyclist to make the adjustments.
The phone app will need to have outputs to control a robot which will make adjustments to the seat and handlebars while the cyclist is aboard the bike on the turbo.
The phone app will then send a video recording of the whole session to an experienced cycle ergonomist for his/her approval.

A phone app for this is pointless. It will create more confusion than it will cure.

In the engine management calibration world where I work, test system suppiers have attempted for many years to perfect an automated Fuel/ignition mapping tool for testbed engine calibration. At least 12 years has passed by and 'finesse' tuning is still done by an experienced ENGINEER.

The automated systems get the engine tuning to a 'usable' state where an emission test can be performed. From then on. its a HUMAN BEING who makes the fine tune adjustments.

IMHO, the same is true of fitting a bicycle to a rider. A spreadsheet which accepts the rider's measurements will get the bike into a 'ball park' area. From then on, its a HUMAN BEING who makes the fine tune adjustments.

The OP states they do "Graphic Design". I doubt they are going to be building an app. Just designing it, in which case, does it really matter if it has a use or has a market of more than 3. As long as they can get a good mark out of it.

"7. Have you ever been fitted to your bicycle?"
Yes, I was mounted on a small bracket under the bottle cage and held in place by a velcro strap. Worst two weeks of my life.

This is typical of today's University culture. They give away BAs in 'Uselessness'.
£9000 per year and the University is happy.

Me? I've got a MA in 'comici libro legendo'.
