Lorry Drivers watching DVDs

However they were only got 3 points and £60. So is the risk of getting caught and the low fine/points enough deterrent to stop watching DVDs whilst you are driving, no probably not.
I would have thought it at least careless driving and on the verge of dangerous driving.
Maybe the lorry drivers were watching the BBC documentary of 'War on Britain's Roads'............ and then maybe thinking of these terrible dangerous cyclists on the roads.

Re: Lorry Drivers watching DVDs
Well, speaking as an HGV driver myself, one has to do something to pass the time...why not watch a dvd to while away the humdrum of city driving. A movie is ideal as it doesn't demand ALL of your attention. I tend to keep the more attention demanding stuff for the motorway...ie, preparing dinner, airfix modelling, internet browsing/shopping. People need to cut us drivers some slack.....some days we have 18 hour shifts!
Re: Lorry Drivers watching DVDs
Surely once you've watched 'Convoy' once there's no point watching it again? Not only that but I'd have thought the chocolatey finger prints from all those Yorkie bars would gum things up...
(Kwackers was incidentally my original AM CB handle back in the 70's...

Its probably safety training DVDs they're watching - what's known in the trade as in-cab training.

Surely you just set the Auto Drive and get in the bunk? Didn't Homer Simpson get into some trouble for giving this little secret away in 'Maximum Homerdrive'?

It seems to me that there are too many luxuries in lorrys these days to when I drove them with crash gearboxes useless heaters and no power steering then..
Re: Lorry Drivers watching DVDs
Yeah but it was harder to sleep between destinations then!

Well, surely the poor chaps have to do something to amuse themselves between knocking over cyclists. Disclaimer, this comment is for entertainment only, do not take it seriously

Sorry, it's a long day in a cab with no one to talk to!
