Small 700c Pannier Rack

Does such a thing exist? When I say small I need a rack where the legs are shorter than normal. My frame I have in the bedroom has a measurement of 330mm from top - bottom bolt on the seatstay whereas my Tricross measures 407mm. My current rack, a Tortec Hybrid Velocity measures 382mm from bolt to top.

Other than going to my LBS that stocks Tortec racks and trying various racks my options are somewhat limited.

On the cheaper racks I've had, they tend to have notched legs to allow for different heights and wheel sizes. Tend to have a couple of adjustment points at both mounts. Would something like that work?

Check out the MPart Madison Summit Rear Pannier Rack. I fitted one on my wife's Orbit and it is a lot smaller than the Tubus rack and it is very well made.

I've fitted 26inch wheel racks to two of my bike without issue:-

Both run 700x35 tyres with a lot of mudguard clearance.

Someone I met recently told me he used a Tubus Cosmo on his singular peregrine, where the rack mounts are about a third of the way up the seat stays. Tubus site doesn't mention them being short though. Worth a look maybe.

one of the things I quite like about that rack design is the feet; you don't need to be a metalworking genius to come up with a different foot bracket to suit your needs better.

cheers

There may be something useful in this topic on '20" wheel pannier racks?' including a photo of a standard Blackburn Rack fitted to the rear of our Helios tandem using bracket extensions from SJS to reach the mounts on the (the rear frame is small enough to fit my 4 year old grandson using crank shorteners). I haven't found any problem with rigidty of the rack with those brackets as the aforementioned grandson was riding in a child seat attached to the rack (with Mrs H as stoker) only a couple of weeks before he made his debut as stoker.

The potential problem I see (& have mentioned in the topic linked to) is making sure that panniers do not hang low enough to foul gears if the rack is too low.

Rick.
