He's going up in powers of two. Like your username. :D

Grumble grumble gripe gripe. Well if it's gripes you want I've got plenty.

This year because Xmas day falls on a Tuesday, we get 4 extra days off from work. Today (Monday), Thursday, Friday, and next Monday. I suppose the company decided, in its wisdom, it wasn't worth having people in for just an isolated Monday, so the place is closed down. Please note these are not free days off - oh no! We have to take them out of our annual leave allowance. Normally we only need to reserve three days, but this year it's four - which means one less day available during the rest of the year.

Next year Xmas day will fall on a Wednesday. Will they ordain five days reserved leave, I wonder? (Mon Tue --- Fri Mon Tue). Surely not - but??!

I've argued against this rule, but to no avail. Assuming my best Scrooge-like manner, I've made the point that I'm not a christian, the religious part of it is of no interest to me. And what about other religions? Do companies close down and force all their employees to take time off, whatever their religion, for Diwali? Eid-al-Fitr? Rosh Hashanah? Vesak? Of course you are free to celebrate these occasions if you wish - and take time off out of your annual leave.

I'm not holding my breath for any change of policy here...

Humbuggy enough for this thread?

Long-dead threads sounds like my favourite cycling shorts.
Have we got time for another cuppa?
