ctc in ireland

Is there a CTC outfit in Ireland (not north) if so anyone got a link to it.
i did come across a ctc site but it's no longer active mores the pity.

The short answer is no although there may be an equivalent orgnaisation in the Republic of Ireland.

CTC was (is?) a member of the Alliance international de tourisme but my memory of reciprocal support from member organisations in other countries is even less than vague.

i was just curious no more than that.
i done a bit this year mizen to doolin to galway great part of our country, first time in that part of the ireland .
i was trying to get a section of the fell club going on boards but to much hassle to be honest.
loads saying they would join but once i asked for money
so do you lads do most of your touring in ireland,i know theres loads of campsites down your end but up here northeast coast not so many.

I and my friends tour abroad. France, Spain, Germany, Corsica etc.
I tour in Ireland with my wife or by myself. My friends know they wouldn't like it. Similarly with England and Scotland. My favouite touring dextination is Scotland

Thanks for that ireland is beautiful but weather can be a big problem, mind you i got rained on for three days solid in france put me off the place for ever.
done the camino on road bike supported tour loved it tough going though.
italy was terrible hated the place probable get shot for saying that
might be going to grampian rally next year been invited.
love to see scotland but weather is a big factor there i like sun .
anyway thanks for the reply i'm sure there loads of irish cycle tourers about just never met any.

Surely there's more of you down south, I think there's about 300 odd in the north, though a lot of them seem to be non active cyclists. If you're ever up our way on a Sunday why not join us for the day!

Bam this is great news for me i done some touring up north loved it but would love to know more about that part of the world would it be possible fotr me to hook up next year for some day rides with a few of you lads i could drive up.

wouldn't go that far bam i'm usually the hanger on follow that wheel .

Most countries I've toured in have some fantasic places.
Ireland has the Healy Pass, Coomakista, Crookhaven, Glengarriff, Ring of Beara, the Burren, Cliffs of Moher.. an endless list
England has Cornwall, Dartmoor, Bodmin Moor, Cheddar Gorge, Ironbridge, Peak District, Yorkshire, Cumbria etc etc,
Scotland has Mull, Iona, Skye, Glencoe, Outer Hebrides, Kintyre, Arran, Tongue, North Coast etc..

God I'm going to do five tours at least this year

yeah done all the irish ones you mentioned certainly would be hard to beat on a warm summers day thats for sure
stayed in tollymore park northern ireland this time last year nearly died with the cold put me off camping in cold weather forever

say bam what do you guys look for in say a couple days cycle camping or overnighters would you use a particular campsite and explore the area or move on each day.

We haven't done any camping trips as a group just the odd hostelling weekend. When touring alone I prefer to travel point to point moving on each day, and plan the route myself. Here's a camping trip I did a few years ago, but I now prefer hostels or B&bs as the back has been giving trouble...age catching up.
Also cycle toured in Switzerland, Italy and Benelux countries. Most of Ireland, Donegal is hard to beat. Some of Scotland, Arran, Mull. Loved Wales, but I have never cycled in England. Again it's exploring the laneways of the local countryside I love most.

that tour looks great didn't get to read it all but well put together.

i did stay in a hostal in doolin this year although is was top class and run by a nice fella i would rather have the tent much more private besides all the dudes that stayed there were in the early 30's need i say any more.

theres a big cycle rally in scotland every year cant think of the name but supposed to be very good.might do that some time.
to many hills in donegal for me.
