Exactly my point. As soon as we start expecting behaviour, we look for it, hence all cyclists run red lights and all HGVs are driven by homicidal maniacs.

Clearly there is fault to point at but better understanding of each others issues is a far better goal. My aim is to educate HGV drivers about cycling and cyclists about HGVs. I'm not at all interested in a we're better than you debate, it achieves nothing but division.

Except I'm talking from personal experience rather than expected stereotypes.
As I said I've gone years with few problems (youtube videos excepted), but recently I've had a spate of truck overtakes that are much too fast and much too close, in one case I estimate there was less than 3 feet between the rear of his trailer and the kerb by the time it'd completed it's overtake - and I'd been more than 3 feet out to start with!
I'd estimate in the last month I've had 3 that have forced me over to avoid being clipped and several more that caused an intake of breath.

With that in mind you'll have to excuse me if I start to see some reasoning behind the stereotypes and if my opinion of them is on the wane...

Of course I do and I have seen what you describe and it's outrageous. It's just that it is of absolutely no help to land any group of road users with that sort of label.

Do you have any details of the vehicles involved such as company's? Is it always in one location or several?
