Formula Brakes and Shimano Discs

Hi
Does anybody know if Formula 'The One' disc brakes will work with Shimano Discs? I've just purchased the Disc Brakes and my Shimano CL discs still have a lot of miles left in them, if I can use the shimano disc it will save me quite a few quid.

if they are the same diameter/thickness it should be OK.

Two other things to look out for are the width of the brake track and the possibility of a restriction on the pad material. A few discs are marked as suitable for 'resin pads only' and a believed to be a softer steel.

if it helps, I gather that the Formula discs are about 0.1mm thicker than some Hope models. This isn't enough to worry about IMHO.

Most plain (rather than floating) discs are between 1.6 and 2.0mm thickness; in reality this rarely causes a problem although both rubbing (discs too thick) and pad location (discs too thin, esp with worn pads and worn discs) are potential problems.

Re disc/pad compatibility; check the swept area (all of the pad should touch the disc at least some of the time) and provided your shimano discs don't say 'resin pads only' then they should be OK with whatever pads you have.

if anything, it is the discs that might be so marked. Some shimano discs are marked thus.

I'd try them. Chances are they'll work just fine, if not you can get new discs in a day or two.

most discs are nominally flat so are not offset WRT the mounting face.

Yeah I just thought I'd try my existing shimano discs with my new formula brakes and if they work I save £120 [SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH AND SMILING EYES]
