Speed Lobster Trailer/Tent Combo

Post by Aushiker »

Just putting this out there for those who might be interested in such a beast. It is called a Speed Lobster and comes out of Germany by the looks.

Not for me as it seems that locks one into using the trailer/tent combo or having a separate tent for uses when the trailer is not required. Personally I would rather stick with my Extrawheel Voyager or other suitable trailer and my Tarptent Scarp 1. So much more flexibility in terms of use and the option to choose better quality gear.

There is also a mpg movie at http://www.speedlobster.de/seiten/film/ ... _33MB.html

There is a certain attraction in the full-on trailer tent which keeps the sleeper clear of the ground: https://www.eta.co.uk/2012/04/19/a-tent ... a-bicycle/ , this is one of many designs. Could be useful for camping on difficult surfaces.
Good fun to browse through these designs, but like you I'll be sticking to my traditional tent.

The Speedlobster is a mighty fine concept that never made it into production.

The Speedlobster website does not appear to have been updated since 2005.
