Hi all.

Whilst been a member here for a bit am new to posting. So a big hello to all and hope to be on here a fair bit and get to know you all!

Im intending LEJOG probably this year pending finances.
I have the info sheets from CTC except am missing the page about best time to do this....I am guessing missing being eaten alive in Scotland is my fear...err...by midges....not by the Scots !!...any thoughts on best times?

Also (being cheeky!!) anyone got any back gardens or bits of land I could blag a tent pitch on route....havnt sorted route out yet so even if its not on route it might end up on route!!

As a separate thing, I can offer a lawn pitch free for anyone going aroungd the coast and want to stay over near Eastbourne.

Thanks all and good to be hear.....now must get an avitar sorted!

The traditional "season" for end to ending is Easter to the end of September, The midges hatch in Scotland sometime in June I think. We certainly never saw any on our mid-May start. The closer to mid-summer the more daylight you have, but in mid-May it's light until after 10.00pm in Scotland.

Can't help with the lawn thing, we're too far east and off the recognised route, unless you are going east of the Pennines.

I did 2 trips last year the first was in april/may with mixed weather mainly sunny had 4 glorious days as i remember i got sunburn somewhere between carlisle and scotland and i camped along the way. The next trip in late july and august i was vertualy eaten alive by midges. One thing i learnt on later trip was in midge season forget camping near water as this was the worst place and midges seem to go for your face more than anything else. As for the garden bit sorry i cannot help with that as i live in london. I am planning my trips again for this year it's nice when you are your own boss. I could afford to do it useing b&b's but whats the fun in that. Always thought i had a few loose screws. And enjoy your trip
