Cycling Weekly mileage chart.

Post by beachcomber »

In past years Cycling Weekly used to produce an annual mileage chart. Riders could fill in a square for each 10 miles ridden. It had weekly and monthly totals. It was an easy way to record one's annual total and for me acted as a visual motivation. If I saw my miles were down one week, I would get out and try to bump them up.

Traditionally the chart was in the centre pages in a December issue. I have all the December 2012 issues but didn't see a chart.

Does anyone know if a mileage chart was produced last year and if so which weeks issue was it in?

I realise it's possible to make a chart using something like exel spreadsheet, but I'm too idle and not very IT savvy.

What about a sheet of squared paper if you cant use excel - or just write the figures down in a note book and add them up - or just don't bother - does it matter anyway? Enjoy the cycling not the agonising over how far you have been or thought you should have gone.

used to use the mileage chart but gave up when I stopped buying Cycling Weakly about 10 years ago. I now use a spreadsheet and/or the online logging site www.mycyclinglog.com

I have been keeping a log for the past 4 years.
Invariably my cycles odometer would fail at some point during the year and I would lose the recording.
I use an Excel spreadsheet with date, which bike and the mileage.
Helps with knowing when chains were fitted etc.

I log my weekend miles on my Garmin but not my commuting miles, as it's the same journey everyday. So i need something that will log the total. My cyclinglog also gives me a breakdown of the number of miles on each bike:

Totals by Bike

Langdale Audax
Time 146:49:00
Miles 3448.72
Ave Speed 15.04
No 82

Orbea Aspin
Time 64:37:00
Miles 2222.00
Ave speed 15.71
No 43

Ridgeback Panorama
58:12:00
732.68
11.99
64
