Horrific. Sympathies to the families of the victims.

Sounds like it could have been a stolen car.

Looks like the driver could have targetted them.

And the second link suggests they may have been riding a tandem.

If it is true as the report suggests that this driver was targeting people, it reinforces the need for us to report aggressive drivers, and the need for police to follow up such reports.
Some aggressive people get worse and worse the more they get away with it. :(

Condolences to all the family and friends of the victims.

Nice a wedding video advert in the middle of an article about a major tragedy... glad they have their priorities right in this is Bristol.

I don't know if I'm being obtuse, but where does it imply that they were targeted?

What suggests it was a man?

I seem to remember the cyclist killed by a driver who kept going for hundreds of yards into blinding sunlight at speed was.........a woman!

Edit
Oops, maybe this

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "Police were called to a single vehicle road traffic collision on Lower Hanham Road at about 3.50pm in the afternoon.

Single vehicle?

"The car was in collision with two cyclists. The driver left the car and fled the scene of the incident. A man and a woman both died as a result of injuries sustained.

38yr old man handed himself in.... it was used as a generic term, like mankind etc......

More importantly at least it seems the driver has turned himself in... long enough after the event, perhaps, to reduce the alcohol??????

No. If alcohol was a factor (for which there's no evidence yet) - I don't know how the procedure works, nor the Law, but I imagine they could extrapolate back in time. Even, say, 12 hours after your last drink, there's still significant alcohol in your body.

I know there's a strong wish amongst some to have a pop at the Press here - but please consider! The inappropriate advert was probably commissioned long before the event, and there was no easy way to remove it. And the allusion to a 'single vehicle' may originate with the Police. Even they get it wrong sometimes...

The article has been changing over time and no longer says it but did originally say there were reports of several incidents of him targeting people in the area. In which case it should be a murder charge

According to this article the cyclists were on a tandem.
