Which tyres ?
Looking to change my tyres as the weather gets better..Im currently running winter marathon spiked tyres 700x35 but when I'm touring I'll be changing to continental touring plus 700x 28c..
I want to use something a little slicker for my daily 28 miles commute on roads..
Can someone please recommend me something half decent..
Many thanks

Re: Which tyres ?
I find Vittoria rubino's a good alround tyre for rural commuting, Light weight but with some puncture resistance. In winter with the amount of debris I tend to switch the rear to a Swalbe Duranos plus for winter use and would probably use these for urban commuting. Continental Gator skins are another favorite of the commuters

Gatorskins. I use them winter and summer, kept properly inflated I find them great on my rural commutes and club runs.

Re: Which tyres ?
I would agree with all those choices.
If I had to buy now I would get the 30mm Racers
These are lighter and cheaper than the rigid Ultragators and I havent found them to be any less rugged nor do I know if they last as long.
With a bit of patience you could wait for the 35mm versions or the Rubino Pros in the 28mm size.
Note the 28mm Pros are really 26mm
The 30mm Racers are really 28mm
The 35mm Racers are really 30/32mm
The 28mm Ultragators are really 28mm Ultrgators.

Seeing as Meic has brought up the sizing issue Ribmos come up about right ie; 28mm are 28mm,etc
.
I agree with him about the Racers,28mm Gators measure 25or26mm

Mine dont.
Gators and Stelvios on 13 or 15mm rims come out as written on the side of the tyre.

Measured on DRC STouring rim with an internal dim of 15mm = 26mm with plastic calipers.
EDIT:- Apologies, just measured them with digital calipers and they are 27.83mm

Re: Which tyres ?
I am currently using rubinios. 25 mm on commuting/road bike. About £11 each and comfortable and rolls well. On my poncy road bike I have conti Grand Prix 4000s which are nice, but overkill for commuting

Re: Which tyres ?
Continental gatorskins are good,£20 online!
Re: Which tyres ?
I'm really pleased with the Grand Prix 4Seasons 25mm I've been using this winter, bit tight to get on but grip and puncture resistance seems fine.
I've used GP4000s on the summer bike since they launched and generally get 2 summers per set, though last year I sliced one up on a glass bottle in a puddle obscured pothole in Edinburgh, a Park Tyre boot got me to work gingerly.

The 28mm Rubino Pros appear to be in stock here: http://www.highonbikes.com/wheels-tyres ... TpqKtaeOSp Great tyres but I agree about the sizing, mine also measure 26mm on 15mm rims.
