Best map for Mallorca

Post by Garyandali »

We are going to Mallorca in April. We intend to tour round using country roads/ bike routes as much as possible. Can anybody suggest a good map, which will make navigation easy! So far I've bought two, and I'm not sure I like either! I have got the Freytag and Berndt 1: 00000 map and Bikeline 1:60 000

Thanks Ali

I have one of these:-
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Majorca-bicycle ... 732&sr=1-1

Waterproof & tear resistant (sweat-proof  ). Had it for three trips now. 1:100,000 and fits in jersey back pocket.
The only drawback is the map is double sided so half the island is on each side.

There are other maps on Amazon but not had experience of them.

Best cycling map I have found is a free one. It is produced by these people http://www.radferien-mallorca.com I got mine from the Tourist Information booth in Santa Ponsa but I am sure they must be available elsewhere.

You cant go wrong to be honest, even the most basic of maps show the minor roads and as stated even the free ones.

Looking at this I think it is the same map I alluded to but Philipps have had them branded with their name.

Spoke to a friend this evening and apparently still free from TI in Santa Ponsa

You'll get a highly detailed map of the Balearics on Viewranger for your mobile.
They're at 1:25000, download for a couple of quid. www.viewranger.com

I've actually got that very map on my iPhone. However it's not very good tbh, it's a bit too detailed, and difficult to pick out the roads and their status. Ordnance Survey it is not.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mallorca-Fahrra ... 47&sr=1-24

This is 1/75000 scale, on 2 sheets, easy to read, waterproof, and shows all the cyclepaths.

Does the map have the legend in English? One of the maps I bought has about ten different cycle paths with ten very slghtly different descriptions in German, and I've no idea what the differences are!
