Instant Karma.

Post by reohn2 »

Incident No1:-
We were out on the tandem on Wednesday(first time out on it since November 6th last year) we passed a chap with his bike upturned and the back wheel out,I ask if he was OK but he seemed to be struggling.
He couldn't get his new pump to work(turned out it had the grommet in the Shrader setting) anyway I pumped up his tyre with my mine and turned the grommet round for him.
I went for a ride solo yesterday and punctured, front wheel,a 1/2" panel pin of all things! which I thought was a bit ironic for a retired Joiner :? .
No problem pin extracted, new tube fitted, tyre back on,then reach for my pump only to realise I'd left it on my other bike  .
Within two minutes a rider passed by and asked if I needed anything, his pump was more than helpful :)
Karma equalised(if you believe in such things) :)

Incident No2:-
Whilst on the same solo ride, pre puncture,I called for a coffee in a regular watering hole.
I was just ordering my coffee and a slice of Victoria sponge when a chap walked in and shouted "two coffees" to the young woman serving me,then stretched his arm across me to pay.The woman instead of asking him to wait took his money, gave him his change then carried on serving me :?
She then took my money(a £10 note) and gave me my change(a £5 note and some shrapnel).
It was only later when I got home and checked properly that I found she had only charged me for the cake :? .
Karma equalised (if you believe in such things) :)

Or put another way, what goes around, comes around :D

I paid for a guys railway ticket a few weeks ago (he'd forgot his wallet) thus saving him a fine.

This morning I'd just started off up the road when I realised I'd forgotten mine - I decided not to trust to karma and went back and got it...

I hope you didn't forget your pump

No. But I didn't have a puncture kit or spare tube with me so it's a bit moot. (I'm only going 2 miles each way, I can walk if I get a puncture - not that I ever do)
I suppose I *should* keep a spare tube in my bag though...

That's dangerous talk.
Not an hour and a half before puncturing yesterday I was having a chat with a lad on an MTB with some seriously knobbly tyres on it.He was complaining about punctures, saying how he thought I'd probably get plenty with my slick tyres.
 I of course said how I don't get many punctures, if you're careful and keep an eye open etc,etc........................

This Karma thing is a bit more complicated than I first thought :?

I've only had two punctures so far this year. Is this a record? Mind you, I've a bad feeling about tomorrow

Is there some weird symbolism in getting a p*ncture on the way to the dentist's?

That's what happened to me a week or two ago. I didn't have time to fix it, so I pumped up and hoped for the best - and just made my appointment. Afterwards, back at work, I put in my spare - and it promptly blew off a patch as I was inflating :( . After that I had no option but to walk home.

At least the dentist didn't make holes in my teeth, not there and then. That delight is reserved for my next visit, next week  ...

I reckon this lot amounts to some pretty bad karma. What have I done?
Suppose that this room is a lift. The support breaks and down we go with ever-increasing velocity.

I switched dentists last year to one just a couple of minutes walk from me. Previously it was a 40 mile round trip by bike. It got the miles in, but the anticipation of the drilling and filling spoiled the ride somewhat :?

I can't even remember my last puncture. I've worn out at least 3 sets of tyres since then.
I laugh at puncture fairies.
