Pinarello Sestriere - Mudguard

Post by JW123 »

All,

I have just bought a second hand Pinarello Sestriere and would like to fit mudguards for use as a commuter bike. I would really like full mudguards, however I am having no luck going round the bike shops who insist that it can't be done on a race bike and recommend race blades.

Has anyone had experience of this, I'm sure somebody must have done this before me! The bike does not have any braze on mudguard fittings or a mudguard fitting behind the bottom bracket, but perhaps fittings are available?

Any help will be much appreciated - Thanks

JW123, I'm surprised. I've got a Sestriere frame I built up. I got it specifically 'cos it's got mudguard fittings - eyes on the dropouts, tapped hole under the fork crown and one in the bridge behind the bracket. It should take normal mudguards.

Thanks for that Martin. Unfortunately I was lead to believe that it could take mudguards but it doesn't (I know that some sestrieres do). I could fit race blades but I like my mudguards!

I may be able to squeeze a guard on the back (by making a bridge), however, the clearence between the fork crown and the tyre is unlikely to allow this at the front.
