Sleeping bag

Post by Therealsouthstander »

I'm looking for a sleeping bag that is fairly light but more importantly compresses into a front pannier if possible..

I think a down one would probably be better and I'm looking for a temperature comfort range that will be suited to the South of France in May and for summers in Scotland and other parts of the UK...

I really don't want to spend over £100

Any advise would be most welcome..

If you dont manage to find anything within budget, then I would recommend this at £110.

Haven't tried their bags but have other kit from Alpkit and can vouch for their being cheap and good!
Have a look at their 'compare' page which is quite useful and includes info on temp. range.

Alpkit bags are good, another option would be Decathlon - decent value for money, lots of different sizes and temperature ratings.

Cheers guys just bought the Alpkit 600 :-)

Sorry to be a pest but looking for recommendations for a self inflating mattress ,I have the Gelert extreme lite 3/4 length but its just a little small for me and I found I kept on slipping off of it during the night.

Looking to spend around £30

Thanks again.

I think once again you're going to get several recommendations for Alpkit mats. It's certainly difficult to do better for the price you've suggested, although I found my Alpkit mat to be considerably less durable than my Thermarest. It was a few years ago, they've probably improved by now.

the originals lasted about a year ( were inside warranty)

the replacements have lasted two years so far, but were not same model.

I used a thermarest mat for many years (the short ultralight version). Last year I swapped to an Exped Synmat UL7 which I've found to be much more comfortable and warmer. Packs down smaller as well. Possible a little too expensive for what you are looking for, but there may be similar mats available at a lower price. Only downside is that you have to inflate it (in my case by mouth). Other possible issues are that they may be more likely to be punctured (it does come with a repair kit), but so far I've not had any problems.

on looking, the original was the base, but the replacement was the 'new' base of slightly different shape and valve placement.
