Hello,
I shall be getting of the ferry at 20:00 on June 19th and need to find some camping spot after my French tour. Any one know a campsite near by for one man tent or B&B or hostel. My Google search has found anything yet.
I'm also looking to ride all the way back to London which will take around 3 days. Wonder what free camping spots there might be?
Camping near Plymouth
Re: Camping near Plymouth
Use Google maps, just choose the area you are looking for, type camping in the search box and it will show you all the sites. Useful in France too. If you have a Google email account you can click on the stars in the information panel and save them in 'your places'

Reuse, recycle, to save the planet.... Auctions, Dump, Charity Shops, Facebook Marketplace, Ebay, Boots. Old House, and a Banger ..... And cycle as often as you can...... Every little helps!
Re: Camping near Plymouth
About an hour's cycling east would get you to Venn Farm camping at Brixton. A more off the wall suggestion would be to go in the wrong direction for London and take the Cremyll ferry from Plymouth (last boat 21:15) and camp at Maker Camping at Millbrook. Depending on your route back to London this might not be such a bad way to go as you could avoid Plymouth if you headed north from here the following day. The Cremyll ferry is about a 10 minute ride from the main ferry port where you will land. If the budget is not an issue the Edgecumbe Arms where the Cremyll ferry lands has 4 rooms but they are not the cheapest although the pub would be a nice welcome back to Blightly. Alternatively, you could wait until it is almost dark and wild camp in the grounds of Saltram House. I wouldn't recommend staying anywhere near the ferry port (e.g. a B&B) unless you were absolutely sure there was somewhere safe for your bike to be kept.
If I wasn't in France at the time I might have offered you a bed at my house!

Thanks might look into the ferry to Millbrook. Hope the campsites don't mind me turning up after 9pm. But no a lot a can do about the ferry times.
Just notice theres a festival on that weekend... Mmmm.. could stay on for that and get the train back?

Seems to work well just staring loads of places now to thumb over later.

On reflection I don't think this is a good idea - I was cycling around this area on Sunday and there are some serious hills which after France may come as a bit of a shock especially if loaded with camping gear. Better to head back to Plymouth and take the Plym Trail or minor roads to say Okehampton and then head east for London. Alternatively cut across Dartmoor via Princetown. Hills are more or less unavoidable around here - there be hills in them thar...hills.... (as they say)

Hi,
Just head north on plym trail as suggested then on the open moor put tent up, Legal And Free
Get out of sight of road and not in a wood or in sight of a dwelling.
