Displaying campsites POIs on Etrex 20

Post by MickTheCyclist »

So I've downloaded campsite GPX files from archiescamping website and dropped them onto my Etrex 20.
The campsites all appear in the Waypoint manager and I can select one, click Map, and then see the little blue flag on the map. But only the one I selected appears on the map. I expected to be able to see all the campsites displayed on the map so I could see where they are. Is that not how it works or am I doing something wrong?

Sounds like you need to change the map settings to change the zoom level at which user waypoints are shown.

Have you looked to see whether Archie gives any help and instructions? For a start you might be better off opening the gpx file in Basecamp and changing the symbol from the default blue flag to a tent. Converting to POIs would also be a good idea - I'd have thought Archie would give instructions on this.

Problem solved thanks.
Zoom level was set at 120ft; no POIs were visible until zoomed in to that level.
Also the GPX files from Archie's are a list of waypoints (XML wpt tags) and dropping them into the GPX folder meant the device used them as waypoints (as you would expect) and only displayed the one you select.
Converted the file using POI Loader and all works now.
