SPD sandals

I'm drawn to these because they seem to be the only effective way of wearing sandals in the hot summer months (not UK, I hasten to add). Does anyone know of any other brands apart from Shimano, are Shimano the best, do they (did they ever) do them in any other colour apart from black, can you really walk in them comfortably, do they last?

Thank you for any info/opinions.

I've just done my first summer with the Shimano sandals and I like cycling with them. I have the old SD60's I hunted them out as the new SD65's have so much sandal that they are almost a toeless shoe.
They walk fine and I rarely feel the cleat grinding on anything, unlike with my shoes.
Same old Shimano problem with the sizes being too small.
I have a perfect shimano sun tan on my feet and it is just patches of tan compared to ordinary sandals, where most of your foot is tanned.
I was dissapointed to find they are made in China. Also they are quite heavy.
There was a review on them in the CTC mag over a year ago.

I also believe Nike do, I had a pair a few years ago.

My SD65's have been a revelation. I've cycled hundreds of miles in them, and walked quite a few too. Great when it's really hot, and when it's really wet.

I have cycled exclusively in Shimano sandals for the last 8 years, covering over 60,000 Now on my 3rd pair and love them.

I think Lake have stopped production although some may still be available. Addidas did some about 6 years ago but again they stopped production.
