I'm familiar with the information on the National Express site in regards to transporting a bike with them. They say they'll allow a bike with 'a pecial link in the main frame and are carried in a proper protective carrying case'
I don't have a folding bike of course. Right now it's still boxed up from being shipped from the States. Trying to carry a bike in a box from Kilwinning-Glasgow-London-Earlsfield all by public transport, I think, is going to be much harder than assembling it and transporting put together - removing both wheels when necessary.
Any thoughts? Previous experiences in similar situations?
Thanks
if I can take my bike on National Express

you can book the item by a carrier, such as TNT, or even parcel force... dont think its much money either. Another alternative, if you can put the bike together in Glasgow, why not do that, book a ticket by train and book our bike on it too.... if done in advance the ticke wont cost you much!
hope this helps
p.s. my ticket from Sheffield to Thruso, with free bike resivation cost me £22 squid.... 12 weeks in advance

I thought we had got that piece of nonsense deleted from the website - if you go to the proper information - the official legal conditions of carriage rather than simplified (sic) interpretation Clause 7.1 (which used to disagree with Clause 7.2!) noted that bikes dismantled or folded down and packed in a purpose made bag or case are carried in the luggage hold.
