What is the cheapest / lightest/ 3 legged chair/seat that is reasonably priced?
I have seen those very expensive ones, but I am looking at a budget around £5-£10.
Thanks in advance

Re: 3 legged stool/seat
We use child size 3 legged stools from a pound shop, they keep you off the ground and are very light. I weigh 16 stone and they have not collapsed, bent or torn yet, though legs (which are quite thin) sink into the ground if wet, we are on the second year with them and find them very useful. Cost naturally £1 each. Originally spent over £50 on a pair of chair converters for thermarests, total waste of time IMO. Adult size 3 legged stools are too heavy, or at least the ones we tried.

Thank you for that tip - Just up my street!
Can't go wrong at that price
I'm off down there now...

Just watch out for the stiching in the corners where the legs go in, thats where the one I bought failed - still whilst I had it is was a great on the knees.
I would probably get another if I was going on a long tour again.

Re: 3 legged stool/seat
Got my Poundland mini tripod stool yesterday.
It started me thinking that the 'clever' part is the plastic ring where all the poles converge. Possibly the only bit that couldn't be easily reproduced.
I am trying to think of a way to 'double up' the use of the poles or to use things I already carry to act as poles.
The fabric seat , although attached, could be detached and the whole thing made to take up less room.
Anybody ever done any 'stool mods'?

Yes!

As I'm close to the rated maximum 100kg weight, and reckon one of the weak points is the plastic middle joint securing the three feet.
To spread the weight I drilled holes in the bottom of the tubes, and ran a thin rope through them to prevent the legs from extending too far.
Also I glued the plastic feet which tended to fall off.
Not sure if it makes much difference but I had fun doing it!

Interesting! I think the 'fun' part is vastly under rated. That's what it's all about for me.
Thanks for sharing that
