I just was thinking if you can run the Nordlicht Dynamo on the rim as against the tyre, could any other dynamo be set to to do the same, or is it some thing that only the Nordlicht can do?. One other quick question, has anyone dealt with EU suppliers like Rose Cycles or Dutch Cycle Bits, I ask because a lot of there stuff seems a good bit cheaper for the same items than here

I've seen various dynamos over the years which run on the rim. As far as I know they struggle to maintain traction when it rains. I assume you're worried about tyre sidewall wear, but I'd go for the AXA HR dynamo running on the sidewall. With its large pulley wheel it's very gentle on tyres, runs quietly, and performs very well in wet and muddy conditions. I've bought from Roseversand, also Bike24, and found them prompt and efficient.

+ one for the AXA dynamo.
