Decathlon Quickhiker Ultra III

Post by Big T »

Just been to Decathlon and they are selling these tents off cheap - £14 reduced from £199 or they have an ex-display model at £89.

Anybody got one? Are they suitable for cycle touring? They seem very light (2.76kg for the III and under 2kg for the II).

£14 is presumably a typo. £149?

Decathlon stuff is IME very good. As to suitability go cycle-touring, if it's been designed for hiking (ie carriable in a backpack) then there's no reason why it won't be good for cycle-touring.

Ask questions about the ex-display models: has it lived indoors on permanent display or lived outdoors and been taken down every night?

Yes £149!

The display tents at Decathlon are outside in the car park and get taken down (or at least inside) overnight.

I went back today and got them to put the display tent up. Apart from the guy ropes being a bit tangled it looks perfect so we bought it. A bargain at £90 for a tent with an RRP of £199. We also bought some of their lightweight sleeping bags (the S10 Light) which were £45 each or 2 for £70.
