Cycling from Stratford Station to Canary Wharf

Post by pauldb »

I'm starting a new job in October. I'll miss my current rural commute, so looking for a reasonably stress-free route from Stratford Station to Canary Wharf. The TfL cycle route maps don't seem to offer a quiet route for the entire journey. Wonder if anyone out there has local knowledge of a quiet-ish, reliable route?

I recall heading off down West Ham Lane but not much else - a real pig to get in if you are not in a car - from East side especially, only plus point is that you can ignores no right turn on one route and walk across the dual carriageway

Thanks Dave. Guess I might have to take my courage in both hands!

You might like to look out for the OYBike hire points at Canary Wharf and Stratford Station. They cover the UEL Campus and parts of Tower Hamlets, apparently a sports centre in Whitechapel is a popular trip.

Other interesting transport developments to pass around - National Express coach now does a commuter run from Milton Keynes to Canary Wharf and should carry bikes OK - if anyone does intend to check it out for regular travel let me know.
