Tent poles

Post by Pickers »

I have a Terra Nova Laser tent, had it for a few years now, really pleased with it, but I've one thing I would like to change.
The single poles at each end of the tent are too long - they dictate the packed length of the tent and era some 55cm long IIRC. I don't want to remove them every time and keep them elsewhere on the bike.
Is there a way to split these poles into sections? I'd guess some sort of sleeve bonded to one half - just a quick assembly when putting the tent up - any suggestions or recommendations or experience of doing this gratefully received.

Surprisingly these carbon fibre poles are only £8 each, at that price you could try sawing one of yours in half and using a sleeve of some sort to join the halves.
If it doesnt work out you can buy one or two new ones to replace them.

I would be happy to araldite on a sleeve (to one half of the pole) as they generally use epoxy resin to manufacture carbon fibre composites.

Many thanks for your replies both.
With the spare posts being only £8 a throw I'll get a couple in and try a cut and shut job! Got some Araldite in the garage somewhere!

What about these guys?

I haven't trawled through their range but it looks like they might well have the bits that will do the trick.
