The Genesis website has some info about fitting mudguards on a disk braked cross bike:
http://www.genesisbikes.co.uk/blog/25/0 ... cross-bike"For any of the current products on the market you'll need to source a longer bolt & spacer and strategically bend the Disc side stay ever so slightly to allow clearance of the disc calliper (see images below). We'd advise that any fitment of guards is carried out by your Genesis Dealer, who will also be well placed to advise on sourcing the required bolt & spacer."

Just as clarification (things are always perfectly clear in my mind but not necessarily what i put on paper

), this is the rear mudguard. The front is the one that generally needs the spacer. I have suggested that we side-step the issue on the front by using the rack mount .
I have read a fair few accounts of people using SKS P45 mudguards so think the LBS should be able to get them on by bending the rear stay. Interestingly, I emailed Genesis and they sent me a helpful yet patronising reply stating they actually recommend P50.
I am using BB7 brakes. I placed an order with Tweaks cycles in Wrexham and they took my money immediately but did not let me know that there would be an anticipated two week wait, which when I phoned them became a four week wait. I cancelled the order and considered other makes including TRP Spyre but found those on back order for an extended period too and ended up buying BB7 from bikediscount.de website for I think £45 per set

That page I linked to shows the spacer being used for both the front and rear mudguards. The upper picture is actually showing the rear mudguard mounted using the spacer. The picture is a little bit confusing as they have used the black plastic quick release on the rear mudguard (it is meant for the front).

I just technically 'bent' mine around the calliper - it didn't take any thought and only about 5 seconds to get it fitting correctly!
I'll try and take a photo if there's still a problem (will have to be when it's light!

I bent the mudguard arms too...
On the front, just the upper one needed to be bent:

The rear you can't quite see the bend, but it did need to be bent slightly, but not as much as the front.

I was using SKS Chromoplastics. They were a sucka to set up (aren't all mudguards?).
It's one of the reasons why I changed to a Soma (for the chainstay disc mount). Although now the 2014 Croix De Fer has exactly that!
It's also why I prefer the Gilles Berthoud mudguards (as on PlanetX). Similar price to the SKS, but with only one mudguard arm per side (they only need one as being metal they're stronger, yet no heavier). That said I've never actually fitted a pair to my Croix De Fer so can't say with 100% confidence that it would work.
For a rack, I reckon you could possible get away without needing a disc specific one. I noticed with my Madison Ridge Disc Rack that it would have been very close but possible. I didn't want to bend the rack inwards though, so just stuck with it. If you were going to try a non-disc rack, I'd try it out in a shop first. I would have preferred one, as I prefer a narrower profile, and I'd rather the bolts weren't spaced so far from the frame. Still I carried close to 20kg on the rear for 12,000km, took half a dozen un-boxed (wheel it on) flights, and had no problems.

Nice bike
But there's a glaring and potentially dangerous error.
The safety breakaway mudguard stay clips have been fitted to the rear mudguard instead of the front

.
I'd fit a pair to the front if I were you,it might never happen but if it does you'll wish you had

Thanks. I am aware. I had a LBS finish the build and I am trying to get a good few issues sorted. So far, the second bike shop has moved the STI levers, re-wrapped the handlebars, changed the brake cables, spent quite a lot of time adjusting the brakes and gears...
Next will be getting bits like the mudguards sorted.

Your bike looks lovely, but what sort of bike shop did you entrust the work to, that they screwed up such basic jobs so badly that you have to take it to another shop to get fixed?

It was "The Bike Shop" in Penarth (near Cardiff).
The chain snapped after a mile of use and they refused to help me, telling me that they couldn't warrant the chain. They hadn't joined it properly in the first place.
They put the in line brake adjusters on the gear cables, mounted the STI levers far too far forward, cut the under bar padding until it was useless (the cables really stood out). The gears weren't set up properly, the disc brakes were rubbing.
I was initially told a figure for assembling it and they told me it would be three days until it was ready. They moved the goal posts a number of times saying that they couldn't get my bike set up properly, told me the mechanic's mother had died (she could have, I don't know). At one point I was worried I would need to find a huge friend to get the partly built bike back. I was losing sleep over it.
To my shame, I lost my temper with the bike shop and told them to go forth and multiply
I am a regular at the nearby Tredz and they have done the remedial work quickly and very happily

Just interested to know what the difference is between the stays linked to above and stays for a normal set up? It's described as a "curved V strut". Is it cranked or something? I can't see from the picture.
Thanks

It doesn't look curved to me, just identical to the one that is on the back that should have gone on the front. I haven't fitted it yet so I will take a photo if/when I get it on.

The curve is to the side, just by the plastic release bracket so doesn't photograph well
