With the provided inner, I didn't have any problems with midge despite camping in some pretty midgey spots in England (Yorkshire Dales, Kielder etc.). Whether that was down to the inner or the midge coils, who knows.
BUT - I never used it in a proper Scottish midge fest. I didn't have any faith in it due to other peoples reports/Chinese whispers and the fact the mesh did look a lot coarser than no see-um so got rid.
No first hand horror stories on my part, but take that with a pinch of salt. Or deet.
Recommend a tent?

However once he was made aware of them he set about designing and making inner tents of finer mesh that will keep them at bay. I believe all the new models now have midge proof no see um mesh.
I read that
So I'd guess any future Luxe tents for the UK market will be midge proof. Or have the option of midge proof inners. Being told of and experiencing Skye miges are completely different things.Michael Wong, was testing one (a tent) on Skye this summer, so he now has some insight into what a midge attack actually means.

Midge dentistry improves significantly on the west coast!

Sadly not the case.

Agreed.
I think the Mini Peak 2 looks and promises much and it will suit a lot of touring cyclists but and its a big but, the current Mini Peak 2 inner is not midge proof. Which is of course fine if you are visiting the west coast before May when they tend to emerge. It would otherwise be sensible to await a midge proof inner which appears to to be some way away as things currently stand.
Over to you Mr Wong...
