Do-it-all bike

Post by fenmanctc »

I would like to source a titanium-framed touring bike with 11-speed alfine hub gears, flat bars and hydraulic disc brakes. Is there any such animal out there or has anyone a contact who could build one? I have an Airborne Carpe Diem titanium with vertical drop-outs but conversion to IGH seems difficult.

Van Nicholas (Airborne's successor) offer an Amazon frame (Carpe Dieme's successor?) with an eccentric BB housing for use with Rohloff hubs but chain tensioning is chain tensioning, it should be fine to tension with an Alfine.

Or is there a problem with torque arms etc?

Apologies, they appear to have dropped the disc brake mounts, did the older frames have them?
My ordinary Amazon does.

I think its Burls who do bespoke ti frames if you can go that way.

Van Nichols does a range of bikes as does planet x, but I think the latter are far more race orientated.

Lynskey might fit the bill - the US Website gives more details, Hotlines, as importers, gives a better idea on UK pricing.
