Has everybody got every thing sorted out ready for the day. Cards sent presents wrapped bike serviced?

But the really big question about being prepared?

Have you got the Sprouts on?

(Actually I'm very fond of them - properly cooked!)

We had our works free Xmas dinner this week, those who had small portions got the better deal. The turkey was dry and crunchy and the potatoes were harder than the sprouts. I did get a boost on the ride home though

The sprouts went on at the end of October. A bit late, but they should be cooked by the 25th December :-)

Why do people think sprouts need so long to cook.

Properly prepared sprouts are quicker than most other veg...

My six year old daughter likes sprouts, she steals the raw ones when I am peeling them.
In fact she prefers them raw.

My last year's work Xmas lunch was a disaster (and it wasn't even free). There were two veggie options and I went for 'risotto of the day'. It turned out to be 'beetroot risotto' or some such concoction. Now, I like beetroot, and I like risotto - but as a combination? :(

To beat the rush went down on our annual trip to Waitrose this morning (its usually Aldi!). So did all the local pensioners except they were all on those mobile Zimmer frames. With the staff desperately trying to restock the shelves it was chaos. Got back in time to watch White Christmas - wonderfully colourful feel good cinema. Oklahoma this afternoon... They dont make films like that any more.

My wife went vegetable shopping today for perishables, instead of the usual 2 of us, there will be eight for Christmas dinner.
She went to a supermarket as it is so much trouble to try to park in town, and the shelves for things like fresh vegatables and bread were bare.
There were no attempts by staff to restock the shelves, they had either run out of stock in the store or considered it too isruptive to restock the shelves.
I don't get this "siege mentality," the shops are closed for 2 days, why do people feel the need to strip the shelves like swarms of locusts?

I assume that those who have 8 people over are balanced by prople who have noone left at home?

And round here Tesco at least is open on Boxing day...
