I have a people carrier (Synergie) and it's great for this sort of thing. You could easily get four of you, four bikes and luggage in, in relative comfort. You'll get 50mpg on the autoroute too. Whether you drive or fly really depends on the time you have available. There's a cottage we go to near Nontron, and I've done almost every method of getting there (fly and hire a car, drive from Dover, drive from Portsmouth, etc etc). In terms of money, there's not much in it between driving and flying.

If you can borrow a people carrier, and have the time to drive rather than fly, I'd go for it. More time, but less hassle, and more fun if you're with mates. Plus you have the flexibility of having a car available while you're there - lots more options.

Thank you for this, it could be just the right formula for my group.
