Yes you are correct. It is so long ago I can't remember which ones I actually put on the Galaxy in the end, but I have been using the bike without problems ever since, including several fully laden tours. I have done at least 5,000 miles on the bike with the alternative pads.
On the issue of toe in, I came to the conclusion that any benefit from setting pads up with toe in was minimal, and in any case only likely to be very temporary, because the brake pad soon wears. So unless you are going to regularly adjust for toe in, I think any effect is only temporary. In summary, I don't bother with toe in! (Shock Horror!!
