Are you meaning to lube the threads and splines or bearings?

BTW,as a non technical computer user 'get nasty virus here' means just that to me and I won't click that link,so what's it all about?

greases are lubricants. Greases sold in bike shops are expensive lubricants. Some are not that great, either. Weldtite TF2 grease and Finish Line grease seem good but pricey. I'm sure that others will have their favourites too. Use such grease in bearings, but not delicate mechanisms like freehub bodies with ratchets inside them.

For fitting things like bolts, BB units etc, where you want them to come out again afterwards, you should use an antiseize compound (like copper ease) on the threaded parts where they screw into one another. This is way better than grease for this task.

cheers

Very sorry to go off topic but why can't I get this link to work?
I've tried with various things and I also tried a couple of weeks back when a similar link was previously used.

AFAICT the forum is set to automatically disable links to that website (and one or two others) I presume because it has proven to be an excellent way of acquiring the latest computer virus in the past or has infringed the forum rules in some way.

cheers
