Exped chair kit

Post by gloomyandy »

Anyone got an Exped chair kit? If so how good do you find it? Thinking of maybe getting one to make the evenings in my tent a little more comfortable.

I've had one and it's a great bit of it. A life-saver if on a long camping trip.

I have and use one.
It makes a very comfy and warm chair for low level use in a tent.
I just take the 4 poles out for transport, downmat still in chairkit is rolled up and fits into a Revelate Sweetroll which stows under the handlebars.

Haven't used the Exped one but we do use the Thermarest chair kits and find them incredibly comfortable. I'm sure the Exped ones would be the same.

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like it works pretty well. What sort of length are the poles? I'd like to carry them along with my Voyager tent poles if I can. Is the bag that the chair kit fits into large enough for a combined (but deflated!) mat and chair kit to fit into? Is it waterproof, or would I need an extra bag if I wanted to carry it on the top of my rack?

I found the exped chair kit pretty comfy during my trip across America, though I suspect it affects the life and reliability of the mats. Ive had 2 mats fail, the downmat I used with a chair kit after about 50 nights, a synmat where I didn't use a chair kit after 100 nights( though both on different continents so a poor comparison).

The poles were slightly longer than my tent poles but easily shortened to fit in the pole bag, it also works reasonably well without them if you want to save a little weight.

The poles are 18 1/8" long for my medium size chairkit.
I don’t use the bag it came in, my memory is that it was probably waterproof material, but not seam sealed.

I acquired a waterproof bag to carry mine in when exposed to the weather, 6” diameter, 33” long - long enough with both ends rolled shut to take the 22” long rolled chairkit & mat inside.
