I tried to buy a pair of 42s about two weeks ago. The stock level showed as "1" - thus the last pair of 42s !!!!
A few days later I got an email telling me that they could not fulfil the order. There were no 42s left to send.
I wasn't really surprised.
A refund was offered and initiated very quickly.
Set your expectations accordingly !!

I was grateful for the tip. I ordered some 45s last night (they must have found one pair that size after mercalia's post!), which resolved my dilemma in

It occurred to me that a 41 often fits me in better quality shoes, so I ordered the last pair in that size. They came today and they are spot on, lucky me

What's the fit like with these - do you need to get a larger size as with other cycling shoes?

I don't think so, but I don't with Shimano MTB shoes either. I've always regarded my size 10 feet as wide - I used to take FF or G fittings as a youngster, in the days when width was measured like that. I've got some other cycling shoes that do pinch.
However, I've now got two pairs of Exustar shoes in size 45, and they are fine for my size 10 feet, as have been the two pairs of Shimano MTB "trainers" that I've had.

Well at my end of the spectrum the size 41 Stelvios fit like a normal Clarks shoe size 7. I have a pair of Shimano MT20 'leisure' SPD shoes that seem a tiny bit smaller, so are a bit borderline, cannot wear thick socks with them or they are too tight in all dimensions. Not sure what size the Shimanos are, will check tonight.
I like the Shimanos for warm dry weather as they are a combination of suede and fabric that breathes well, and they look good with jeans, but they are useless for winter or wet weather.

I'm at the large end (large UK12, sometimes fit a 47, sometimes not). Got a pair of these as 47's and they're tight but not unbearably so. Haven't taken them out yet but I think I'll be OK.
Strangely I've never found a pair of Shimanos that fit me, even in a 48 (admittedly a small sample size, I generally go into my LBS, try everything that might be in my size range and then buy the one pair that actually fit)

they are a "fit like a glove or a sock". There can be initially a bit of pinch at the toes as the leather is stronger there and has a stitched section there. The size I got is the size I would have as a shoe length wise. The width is a close fit - as it should be , but the side panels are quite soft leather strengthened above where the laces are and below where the shoe meets the sole, so the width adjusts to your feet nicely ( I think ). The First time I put them on I thought wow they are so tight! having been used to loose fitting hush puppies. These feel they support the feet nicely. And they are nice to walk in, but need a tiny amount of breaking in.

Yes that is the other thing, if they are just a bit tight here or there and stiff when new, I imagine that like all other leather shoes they will give and mould themselves to your foot like no other material can.
I wore mine for the ride to work today and they seem excellent, though I have set the cleats a little too far forward and will have to adjust as feel like I am pedalling with my big toes. I polished them with ordinary black wax shoe polish: I presume that was the right thing to do? They seemed to like it anyway

I dont think they really need any polish as they are so called pu leather or as sjs has it Action leather - a polyeurothane plastic coating on top of leather. just a wipe with a damp cloth should do. They should be almost maintenance free? unlike "proper" leather shoes. Probably best not to use any kind of solvent that might affect the top? I think the later ( & much expensive ) 707's are so called "full grain" leather ie use the top of the cow hide rather than a lower layer like here( that would normally give a suede type shoe).
I was a bit disappointed when I found out about these not being full grain leather & having the pu coating, but when I looked at my other "real" leather shoes and saw how they quickly "aged" & looked naff when used in bad weather, thought this probably the best solution for their intended purpose. I wouldnt though pay nearly £70 for them, which is the real price.
