Will follow the results with interest. Especially whether drinking Guinness in June also results in a light snowfall overnight

If you have any further free weekends, you could also experiment, in the interests of saving weight, with dehydrated beer (i.e. a nice single malt), or even dehydrated wine.

Well,I think I have got the sleep issue sorted, an unexpected trip to Finland to do some work on my partners summer cabin gave me the chance to try my new Exped downmat, slept like a log evet though it was minus 10 in the cabin. 10/10 for the downmat and the morning sauna was ok but I refused to follow her into the lake after!!!!!!
I feel a lot better about the trip now which is only a few weeks away, I guess I need to make some sort of plan other than get off the ferry!!

I discovered by accident a few years ago that listening to podcasts of Radio 4 programmes is a great way to get to sleep. I particularly recommend 'The history of the World in 100 Objects' - a fascinating programme but the narrator's voice is incredibly soporific!
BTW going back to an earlier side-topic - the only time I've ever had anything stolen from my tent was when I'd put ear-plugs in because another camper was a terrible snorer. Lost my money, passport, ferry tickets... and I'd felt so clever managing to buy them with my rubbish French! Got everything back bar some cash though.
