Afternoon all.
Any recommendations for a 'backwaters' route between Sheffield and Cleethorpes? I have far too many TOIL hours banked and want to spend a day on the bike somewhere I don't know very well...
Thanks,
Sean.

Try using the bike option on www.viamichelin.com it does a decent job
Sheffield to Cleethorpes
Buy a return ticket to Cleethorpes..catch the train to Doncaster and then follow the Trans Pennine route to Hessle come over the Bridge and from Barton take the road to Melton Ross..stop at the cafe there..then turn left to Croxton then right to Kirmington..but continue up to crossroads with A18..cross over and ride alongside of airport turn left to Great Limber go thru Limber onto Swallow ..at Swallow take the road to Beelsby..then on into Barnoldby and Waltham and on into Cleethorpes..cycle lane from Waltham all the way to Cleethorpes virtually. To shorten this start the ride from Selby..If you haven't got a map..the Trans Pennine route is well signposted to Hull.If on a road bike would recommend 25 or 28 mm tyres.
Re: Sheffield to Cleethorpes
Finally got around to doing this ride last week...
Route was Sheffield, Woodhouse, Aston, Laughton Common, Oldcotes, Ranskill, Gringley-on-the-Hill, Gainsborough (lunch bought), Willoughton, Waddingham, South Kelsey, Nettleton, Rothwell, Beelsby, Waltham, Humberstone and Cleethorpes.
A cracking route. An unexpected highlight was the view north from Gringley-on-the-Hill. The most life-threatening bit was 2km along the A15. Train back from Cleethorpes - one bike from Cleethorpes (mine), two more boarded at Scunthorpe. One bike off at Doncaster, two more on. All four bikes off at Sheffield - good to see the service being well used.
Taken a long time to get a day sorted to do the trip, but well worth it. 78 and a bit miles covered.

I have an opinion. It might not always be thoroughly thought through, but it's there.
