Banyuls-s-mer to Cerbere

Post by ANTONISH »

I was plotting a route on Google maps (using walking- I find the cycling routes are sometimes problematic) yesterday, part of which goes along the coast to Cerbere. From just above Banyuls (puig del mas) the suggested route went roughly parallel to and further from the coast than the main road - shown as D114. Has anyone ridden from Banyuls to Cerbere via this route or is the suggested route actually a footpath? I'm not sure from looking at Google earth. My michelin maps don't show any roads between puig del mas and Cerbere. Be nice to get away from the traffic though :)

There is a "white road" marked on my IGN map. It starts off the main road (N114) at the Castel Bear on the outskirts of Banyuls. There are 2 small cols , Col de Seris (222m) and Col de la Creti (231m) It joins the main road just before Cebere.

Thank you for that Goosegog , I don't have an IGN for the area - I must get one. A white road would be ok.

I've ridden the main coast road (D914) from Banyuls to Cerbere without any problems. Very scenic and twisty with not too much traffic. May be busy in the high season though, I did it in September.

I rode it in July a few years back - it was pretty busy. Come to think of it I rode in July 1967 - it was busy then.
