How would one go about finding a collector of relison brakes - I suspect I have a pair in the loft...
A shortcut has to be a challenge, otherwise it would just be the way. No situation is so dire that panic cannot make it worse.
There are two kinds of people in this world: those can extrapolate from incomplete data.

L'eroica?

(BTW, after having trouble finding any info about them: They're called Resilion)

Edit: I understand there are a few bike shops for vintage stuff in the UK, maybe worth a try.

My fault that...

speeling was neverrr my stroing punt.... add in a touch of 'fat finger syndrome' and it is a wonder I manage to communicate at all.

Resilion canti stuff (sometimes NOS parts) appears on e-bay from time to time and is sometimes priced quite enthusiastically. I don't know if they sell at that, but clearly someone thinks they might be worth a few quid.

I keep thinking that the same idea writ in modern form would be a handy kind of brake.

cheers

Well I took the tandem out at the weekend with my brother in law, plus my 18month son in a seat on the back, and almost everything behaved as it should. But...... we did end up with a few phantom shifts, that turned out to be due to the shift lever slipping out of its notch. Perhaps this is what the problem was before, but instead of shifting into a different gear, it was shifting between gears, as the cable was not well adjusted?

Hopefully, should work well with a new shift lever, as the existing brass one is just worn out. I just have to find one that will fit the look of the bike. Here's a pic of a similar one:

As for the tyres, I've asked Schwalbe if their HS130's are suitable for tandem use, but they've not got back to me. If they've got a high load rating, I'm going to run with them. Not planning to do any heavy touring on the bike, so I'll just cross my fingers. I may just add some extra caliper or centre pull brakes to help with the braking situation in case of cable breakage, but the Resilions seem to stop the bike well enough.
