As the teacher say read the question

I am looking for the shifter or gear changer rear

Seven speed cheap shifters are not that easy to find. If you want a cheap shifter then I think that you may have to use an 8 speed.

Am i correct in saying 5/6/7/8 shifters will work on each other?

Not sure about 5 & 6 speed but 7 & 8 do work with 8 speed shifters.

No the import bit is say but never mind.

I assume these shifters are for a flat handlebar.

CRC sells Altus trigger shifters:-

There's some going on eBay for a tenner if you want cheaper ...D'oh! Gaz beat me to it.

Perhaps if you had omitted the word 'derailleur' from the title and simply said: ‘Shimano Deore LX rear shifter for 7 speeds’ then that may have avoided some of the initial confusion.

Only the left hand (i.e.front) are in stock at CRC. The only "in stock" 7 speed options I have spotted, from my usual suspects, are Altus sets integrated with V brake levers (£25 at Tredz or £28 at Evans), Tourney thumb shifters (£15 at Tredz) or Deore XT thumbshifters (£86 at SJS!).

That's funny, I could have sworn it was in stock this morning. Not to worry as you can get them a bit cheaper from eBay, as I'd already mentioned in my post. The Woolly Hat Shop currently has +10 in stock in their eBay shop.
