Pedal still spin when take feet off ?

Hi all.

I recently decided to try and take on a bit more bike maintenance than normal... !!!

This involved changing my rear cassette, chain and middle ring of my Shimano x7 front rings.

Really please that I succeeded apart from when I take my feet off the pedals they still go around and if I stop pedalling the chain seems to go slack. The whole new feel is the bike is a bit sluggish is the best way to describe things.

Any ideas on the cause(s) of these issues would be greatly received.

Many thanks for your time

Regards

Mike

+1 but I do wonder if the bike is dragging it's behind while pedalling too? If so, could you have somehow tightened up the rear hub bearings in the process? Granted I've no idea how that could happen but thought I'd ask anyway :P

Hi

As suggested by gaz it's probably the freehub, but while you've got the lube out squirt some on the derailleur jockey wheel bearings too

Give the wheel rim/disc brake a clean afterwards in case of overspray

I wonder if you have made sure your new chain is the correct length, check out Sheldon Brown's site to show you how to check/alter it.
