Just back from a 3 week cycle camping trip on our tandem and we both had the Aldi pillows and we were satisfied enough with them that our previous pillows have gone to the charity shop.
They are fully self inflating, enough that Mrs B4t actually had to push some air out for her comfort.
I put my pillow on top of my clothes stuff sack - given that the amount of clothes in the stuff sack varied (some nights were cold requiring the donning of spare clothes and on other nights the daily wash was still hanging up outside), I was pleased to have the pillow around.
Without my stoker, every trip would only be half a journey
I havent yet used it for camping, but I do carry it around in my panniers when I go on day trip rides - some time nice to lie down on the grass when it is sunny and just let the world go by & have a snooze ( well I am an old g*t) ... The pillow does a good job. Glad I bought it. I agree that some air may need to be expelled to make it comfortable. But it does bulk up rather well.
Bought one myself for my upcoming trip to Wales. Well at £3, why not? I have to agree that letting some air out is required if you want some plushness but I slept soundly when I tried it at home (not exactly camping it rough I know). It feels like it'll take a bit of punishment for a few years too.
