Quick question tonight. Is a 30 tooth rear sprocket the largest campag do.

Yes - & that's only on the Centaur 12-30, unless they've added any more recently.

Agree.
Campag mechs go up to 30t.

The only cassette they do that goes up to 30t is the NEW Centaur.

Other Centaurs are only up to 29t. All the other groups only reach 29t though the rear mech geometry is the same in all groups even if you fit a new Centaur 12-30.

It is arguable that 30t is the utter maximum with Campag.

I've got a 29 too. I got lower gears by replacing the 30T inner with a 26 (& the 53/42 middle/outer originally supplied with 50/39). I'm a "spinner" so I only run out of gears above about 35mph with a 50x13, but the 250ft height gain in the 1/2 mile to home warrants a low gear, especially if I've got a trailer of shopping. I'm tempted to fit a 24 inner, but not sure if I'd use need the 24F/29R that much.

I wonder sometimes about fitting a 28t inner to give me just a bit more range.
At present I'm on 53/42/30 with my 12-30 Centaur.

Sometimes I wonder about a 55t .................

I dropped my wife's bike to 24 by 30 (Campag 10 centaur) and I'm on 24 by 29 (Campag 9 speed). All getting ready for our E2E... 20 and 21 inch spinning gears... Just working on fitting grease nipples to my hip joints...
