front pannier rack for Specialized Sirrus Sport

Post by forestboy60 »

Have owned the bicycle for a couple of years now and want to start touring camping with it. Cycled a few 100 mile days, so comfort no problem especially with my old Brooks saddle.
Have the rear panniers fitted plus bar bag, but cannot find a front rack.
Will only be doing 1 or 2 week trips so do not want to spend a lot. I have done a couple of weekends and everything fits with what I have, but would like to spread the weight.

I just stuck one of these on my tourer. It seems rock solid so far but haven't actually taken it out on a loaded ride yet.
The tubing is a bit thin and theres a bit of wobble from the top clips on my panniers (Atura Arran 36's) but not so bad as to worry me about them jumping off the rack.
It has the all important wheel hoop.

I seriously wouldn't have one of those near any of my bikes! That plate across the top prevents any of the better fixing systems being used and they really are quite wobbly with a load on! Cheap is what it is and standard for what? :?

Yep you're right Foxy. Utter crap.
First time I've bought something and regretted it, for the bike anyway.

Thanks for the advice foxyrider. Purchased the Tortec Expedition front rack and despite arriving with no instructions, was able to fit it, and have been out for a 1 night camp to test it out. Just what I wanted.
